Abortion

January 22, 2010

TOGETHER FOR LIFE

The 37th Annual Memorial Service for the Unborn since the Legalization of Abortion.

"Together For Life" is held every year on the anniversary of the infamous Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion on demand in all nine months of pregnancy in the United States.

We came together to remember the 50 million Americans that have died in the war on the pre-born, and stand as a respectful appeal to lawmakers to pass protective, pro-life legislation.

Friday, January 22, 2010, was an overcast and chilly morning at the Capitol building in Atlanta, GA. As in previous years, the crowds were slow to show up. But that didn't stop those that were particpating in the service. Men were busy setting up the sound system, stage and banners. There were volunteers waiting to be given their assignments for the day. The chill seemed to stay in the air for most of the morning, and the people were still missing.

The service started out with prayer and then went into praise and worship with the music provided by Doug Stroup. But the people there only amounted to a few hundred. Then as the program progressed, more people started to show up. But the biggest influx of people came just at the end of the ceremonies. Those that came late, stood at the corners of MLK Jr. Drive and Washington St. There seemed to be a better sound system set up this year, so the crowd could hear what was going on. I was impressed with the number of young adults and teen-agers that were there this year. This is where the future of our state and nation lies.

The guest speakers were Atlanta Archbishop Wilton Gregory, and Mr. Ken Blackwell of the Family Research Council.

We must continue to stand up for the pre-born children. God has given us these children. We should do what we can to protect their precious lives. Here are some pictures of the rally and march. If you would like to get more involved, please contact us.

Read about the California Baptist University Debate Team and the stand they took for righteousness when confronted with debating the issue of abortion during a tournament.

President Ronald Raegan in his 1988 National Day Of Prayer Proclamation, said:
The family has always been the cornerstone of American society. Our families nuture, preserve, and pass on to each succeeding generation the values we share and cherish, values that are the foundation for our freedoms. In the family we learn our first lessons of God and man, love and discipline, rights and responsiblities, human dignity and human frality.

Today more than ever, it is essential that these contributions not be taken for granted and that each of us remember that the strength of our families is vital to the strength of our nation.

We cannot diminish the value of one category of human life -the unborn- without diminishing the value of all human life....There is no cause more important.

Fact:
As of June 2003, Since the passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973, more than 43 million children have lost their lives to abortion. That is equivelent to the entire population of 17 midwestern states.
